With Android phones finally hitting up Canadians shores (think of the HTC Magic and HTC Dream from Rogers), like Telus launching the LG Eve and HTC Hero, the options are increasing as every day goes by. Now, the biggest news in Android history at the moment is the Droid being offered by Verizon in the USA. This Motorola made Android phone is lighting up the blogosphere with its bag of features and tricks.
Telus to Have Exclusive Rights to the Motorola Droid in Canada?
There are rumors that Telus will be selling the Droid exclusively in Canada, starting in Q1, according to the Mobile Ninjas. Of course, this isn’t confirmed yet by any sources but it can be safe to say we could expect something from Telus fairly soon. Droid phones in the USA went on sale Nov.6th, so the New Year is just around the corner.
What do you think? Would you hold off on your current Android purchases and wait for the Droid to come to Telus?

I went to a Telus store today to play with the Hero and it looks great… but I have to admit, the Droid mania has gotten to me. I think I will have to wait and have both in my hands before I can make a decision.

Yes.
Droid is that much better than Dream or Magic?
If you believe the hype on the blogosphere – yes, it's better. Only handset ever mentioned in the same breathe as iphone.
Yes. Big time.
That stinks if true. Why all of a sudden is Rogers the service not getting all the good google phones? They started the thing off in Canada for the longest time. Now the best phones (Hero / Droid) for Android would all be coming to Telus? I certainly hope not. : / I wouldn't mind as much if Telus didn't stink in Manitoba where I live, but it's a black hole here outside of Winnipeg. Guess I might jsut have to get the LG Eve with Rogers then. : /

Spriggers, as far as 3G service goes, Telus and Rogers are sharing the network, so the service will be identical.
Oh, and I've already put off my new Smartphone just on the rumor that they might be getting the Droid (aka motorola Milestone)
Yes please!
Just played with an HTC Hero at a Telus store yesterday. It was pretty slick, but unfortunately, they didn't have it on the network (can you believe that?), so I couldn't try half the features.
Definitely will hold out for more options!
i would want a Droid for sure, but currently I have a HTC Magic and the Droid would just be a small upgrade..
I think my next Android phone would need to have the Snapdragon processor (maybe SE Xperia or the HTC Dragon)
But that Droid looks awesome.. i want to try it.
The problem is with HSPA outside of Winnipeg. It's non existent:

I would even consider getting a contract for a Droid, and I hate mobile phone contracts.
