Is Sony Readying A 6.44″ Device?

I apologize for the photo. I simply couldn’t resist. This was the first thing that came to mind when I read some recent rumours of Sony’s 6″ device. Here is the real photo causing all the fuss posted on Chinese tech site Digi-wo yesterday:

From what we are able to gather about the device, there seems to be a very thin bezel surrounding the screen as well as the marked absence of capacitive buttons. The screen apparently doesn’t have any branding on the front, but it does have the Xperia Z label on the back.

So, is this an upcoming phone Sony is looking to use to compete with the latest Huawei and Samsung offerings? Or maybe it will be a tablet slightly smaller than the popular 7-8″ form factor like we’ve seen in the Galaxy Tab, Nexus 7, or Kindle Fire. Your guess is as good as mine, but if it does turn out to be a phone, what the heck is going on here? With the recent rumours that Samsung is looking to up the size again in this year’s upcoming Galaxy Note 3 to six inches, I’m starting to wonder if I’m missing out using my puny little 4.7″ HTC One X.

What do you all think? Is bigger really better?

Bigger really is better. I never had any issues with my Note being too big. I slammed the car door on it by mistake and have been using my old iPhone, and its such a huge difference. I can’t stand the small screen (and lack of Swype). I plan to get the Note 3 when it comes out, though I don’t know if I can wait that long.
