Australian Carrier, Telstra, Says Motorola X Is A “Game Changer”

Motorola X Phone

I think of all the rumoured phones that are supposed to début in 2013, the rumoured Motorola X Phone is probably the one that I am most excited about.  I was a fan of Motorola back in the original RAZR days but as smartphones took over, they quickly fell off the radar.  Their last few phones have been pretty decent but their best haven’t been available everywhere (yes, I’m looking at you RAZR MAXX).  The other thing that I’m really excited about regarding this phone is that it’s going to be a pure Google phone and it’ll be the first phone to really be built from the ground up by Google.

Well it seems like others are getting pretty excited about this phone too.  An executive of Australian carrier, Telstra, has reportedly told his senior mobile staff that the X Phone is going to be “a real breakthrough, a game changer that will put pressure on Samsung and Apple.”  That’s some pretty bold praise given that Apple and Samsung are dominating the mobile market right now.

And just in case that isn’t enough to get you excited, some Motorola source has stated that ”Google has been working on this device for a long time. It has software features and capabilities that are not available on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone or Apple iPhone. The software is really powerful and it pulls together Google services like no other manufacturer has done in the past.”

Now a lot of this praise, in my opinion, is likely geared more towards the software rather than the phone itself.  To me, there’s only so many “new” things you can add to a phone hardware wise, but software possibilities are infinite.  That means that all these “features” that they’re excited about will likely be available across the board in time.  However, there’s a good chance that I’ll still grab one of these if it lives up to all the hype!
