Do Not buy this phone! Rogers is not willing to support the Android OS and your phone will be outdated (Android 1.5) from the day you buy it.

  2. Mike says:

Rogers has already made it abundantly clear that they are not going to support the android platform by not providing any updates to the operating system. Don't buy this phoen or any android smart phone from rogers, you will be ripped off!

  3. Puleen says:

Before jumping on to Rogers and signing a contract, please follow this thread and get to know the FACTS. It will only HELP YOUin making the RIGHT decision.

I would be very careful before buying anything Rogers. Given the recent developments and lack of commitment from Rogers (and HTC) in supporting Android updates, I can't help to see Rogers as a very small minded company. Android has the potential to become a huge player in the mobile industry and Rogers is simply turning its back on its Android customers by not facilitating a firmware upgrade. Here we are, 2010 and all those early adopters that welcomed Android in Canada will never get to use the newest features of the OS (unless rooted). I really think Google should be more careful when partnering with companies like Rogers, with a proven history of customer dissatisfaction and utter lack of commitment to a product.

    Ridiculous stuff from Rogers.

  5. Adrian Hensler says:

I'd be tempted to get this phone for my wife if Rogers hadn't apparently abandoned the Android platform. Maybe another provider will pick up the Android platform and actually support the devices they sell.

  6. Sanitylost in Montreal says:

I bought the HTC Magic (android 1.5 OS) from Rogers about a month and a half ago and my phone is already not being supported by Rogers and will soon be obsolete. I would be very careful about buying android phones from Rogers as they do not provide support (OS updates) for these phones. Many apps right now do not support the 1.5 android OS and these non-supported apps will only increase in the future.
BTW android 1.6 OS does work on rooted Magic phones but most of the world already has the update through their provider without rooting.

  7. Sebastien says:

My advice to you: DON'T EAT THE CHEESE….ITS A TRAP !!!!!…. RUN AWAY..

ROGERS WILL NOT SUPPORT ANDROID OS UPGRADES (v1.6 and up) ………PURE AND SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will get a already obsolete phone OS and be trapped in years of contract. Telus and Bell with the new android phones will probably use the same trap on their customers. Stay vigilant before jumping ship to these banners.

Roger is very irresponsible by giving away the phone at 99 cents. They have not supported the other android phones thay have sold so far. It was very dumb of me to buy one. So I am still holding onto my Blackberry & will not renew when my time is up with Rogers. BEWARE AND DON”T BUY THE ANDROID PHONE FROM ROGERS
