Fido To Launch Android Powered Acer Liquid E?

We’ve been wondering when Fido is gonna finally release an Android headset and it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer. We’re hearing that Fido is starting training next week and the Acer Liquid E will be out in just a few weeks.

This is certainly exciting news as it marks one of the last major Canadian carriers to finally have an Android phone in their lineup. Sure, you could always buy an unlocked phone and have it work on Fido but with no carrier subsidy, not many can afford that option.

It’s said to go for $50 on a 3-year term and $350 without a contract. That’s pretty in line with what you’d expect from a budget provider like Fido. Rogers sells the Liquid E for $30 on a 3-year and $425 without a term right now.

In terms of specs, you’re looking at a 3.5-inch display, Android 2.1, 5MP camera and standard Wifi, GPS, 3G and Bluetooth. This is Fido’s best phone to date. You know we’ll keep our eye on it.
