I definitely need a smart phone, and don't really want a Blackberry, not sure I want to jump into an iPhone, and have been really anxious to see an Android phone since they came out. I think it's crap that it takes so long for us in Canada to get the newer technologies.

As Blob mentioned, Telus and Bell are currently moving to a GSM network, so they may be looking at carrying these, but the reps I've talked to through my work seem to not even have a clue what Android is. Really out of touch with things.

I hope they announce something soon. I need something before the end of the year, and would hate to jump into a contract then have an Android device come out a month later. A little notice would be nice.

If you follow the news, you would have known that Bell and TELUS are currently setting up a GSM network. The Android phones will probably be here by the end of the year.

The situation is a little different than the iPhone. The iPhone was more or less a clash of wills... Apple wanted to dictate the pipe that Rogers owned. Suffice to say, Apple didn't hold out for long...

As far as I understand it, it's more of a bizarre lack of interest that has kept Rogers from pulling the HTC Dream into canada. That might change with more Android phones coming out, but considering that Rogers is the only GSM network in town... that might take a while.

Really the CTRC really needs to look into opening up the GSM networks here. That of Bell or Telus need to swtich networks.
