Three New Android Devices Coming To Rogers

Over the next two months, Rogers will be releasing three new Android devices: The Motorola Flipout, LG GT500 and LG Neon 2. They are all new devices to Canada and they seem to all be targeting the back to school season.

Motorola Flipout

  • The Flipout features Android 2.1, Motorola’s own MOTOBLUR, and a 3 megapixel camera with video. Early pricing rumors put the device at $29.99 on a 3-year voice agreement.

LG GT500

  • The GT540 (AKA: the Swift) features Android 2.0, a 3-inch touchscreen display, 3 megapixel camera and WiFi. The device is further reported to hold up to 32GB of memory with a microSD card.

LG Neon 2

  • The LG Neon 2 features a full QWERTY keyboard and 2.4-inch touchscreen. Unfortunately, it looks like that is the extent of the details for the Neon 2, for now. Early pricing rumors put the device at $29.99 on a 3-year voice agreement.

While not revolutionary, it is definitely nice to see more device choices. All three devices will be hitting Rogers Summer/Fall 2010.

    All Crap!

Wonder how long it will take for Rogers to screw up this offering of Android devices. In typical Rogers fashion, probably not long.

I am debating i phone or android…any advice?

  • BitBurn

Ouch, those are all crappy. I got the Xperia X10 and it's a fabulous Android phone. If only Sony Ericsson could just upgrade the OS to 2.1 or 2.2, it would be killer.

geez, Telus is getting the HTC Desire, Bell has the HTC Legend and Rogers is getting… the Motorola flipout… garbage.. ughh, Canada gets shafted on cool phones all the time and it doesn't help when Rogers is willing to rummage threw the Phone market trash can and pass garbage off as gold. They need to get a really solid android phone and get off there high horse about being the first to having the iPhone in Canada.. the X10, is a good phone, but compared to what the competition has, its not good enough be a companies feature phone.

Very very very very very SAD NEWS!!!!!!! I am so done with ROGERS! Gimmee my magic update (which is probably the last one one this device) and I am fulfilling the rest of contract untill my early upgrade and I am gone to telus or bell next february. Rogers… Get your heads out of your ass. Whoever is in charge of your research dept is an idiot. Read a fucking tech mag once in awhile and you will know what people want. WE DON'T WANT THESE LOW END ANDROID PHONES. WE WANT A FUCKING POWERHOUSE PHONE. Rogers you are GAY!!!!!!!

looks like rogers is really all about these cheap throwaway phones that rope suckers into signing an expensive 3yr smartphone contract which seems like such a “great deal” because they pay such a low upfront fee for these junk phones that will never get updates. business as usual I guess.

  • KnightFire

Me too… I'm leaning to purchasing an Android phone outright from Hong Kong.

Any more word on the Galaxy S coming to Rogers? Saw a couple rumours online the past couple of weeks and I was hoping that would be the next phone to come out?

  • MR

More crappy Android phones for Canada… just what we need. This is part of the reason I'm going Apple.

  • Leejakob44

Which is the best Android availble in Canada? I would be willing to switch providers to get the best that we have to pick from up here…or can I go to the US and get a phone unlocked and then hook it up with one of the providers here?

  • Astralmind

Enough with the crap phone Rogers ! We want the Galaxy S stop being stupid like that wow… I'll end up getting the Vibrant from Bell and unlock it for the remaining year I've got with Rogers and then… bye bye! it's just getting ridiculous… Going from the top to the very last when it comes to good phones… things have started to go bad when they first got the iPhone. It's as if they had a deal with Apple not to put any phones that could be popular vs theirs.. ugh!

  • Judzilla

Where have you found that you can do that? I've been leaning towards doing that myself.

Wow, freakout session going on here.

You might want to look at the Samsung S Captivate but even if that isn't the “POWERHOUSE” that you are looking for I'm pretty sure not selling your favourite phone is not a crime nor does it hint at any homosexual tendencies that a company may have.
