TELUS Will Release The Moto X Play For $420 Outright

After announcing the phone’s release to be tomorrow, August 21st; TELUS has now officially released the price for the only Motorola “flagship” phone available in Canada.

The phone will cost $420 for those purchasing it outright from TELUS and $50 on a 2-year term, making it cost the same as last year’s Moto X (2014). This comes after Motorola announced it would make the device available for “around $399”.

If you don’t already know, the specs for the phone are as follows:

  • 5.5? 1080p Display
  • Snapdragon 615 Processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB Internal Storage with microSD Card Slot
  • 21MP rear / 5MP front camera
  • 3630 mAh Battery
  • Android 5.1.1

Other Canadian carriers have yet to put up a listing for the phone on their sites but it’s confirmed to be releasing tomorrow on Bell, Koodo, and SaskTel with WIND and Videotron launching it some time later.

Just a student crazy about technology.

Anyone knows wich model Telus has (xt1652 or xt1653)?

    • Peter

Just picked up one. It’s XT1563

      • Tim

How you liking it so far?

      • Peter

Tim I love it so far. Absolutely love it.

  • Test

Is the purchased outright version unlocked and usable on other networks?

    • Peter

No it will be Telus but unlock codes on eBay for Motorola are $10 and Moto has no Telus Bloatware.

      • Wall Man

Thanks for the answer. This would be the cheaper way to go than paying the $50 Telus unlock fee.
