Telus Offers Motorola Backflip For $79.99
At the end of April, Telus launched the Android-powered Motorola Backflip at $99.99 with a 3-year agreement. In just two weeks after launch, Telus has dropped the price to $79.99 with a 3-year agreement. This marks a $20 savings for potential owners.
The other price points of the device have stayed the same which includes $299.99 (2-year), $349.99 (1-year), and $399.99 (no contract).
While smartphone price reductions are not new, they usually do not occur so close after launch. One of the primary reasons for the price drop could be that the Motorola Dext from Bell and Motorola Quench from Rogers will both be priced at $79.99 (or lower) as well. Another reason could be that the device is running Android OS 1.5 and there are newer devices coming to market very quickly.
Some of the Backflip tech specs include:
- Android OS 1.5 with MOTOBLUR
- 3.1-inch HVGA display (resolution of 320 x 480)
- 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and video
- Music player
- 3.5mm headset jack
- WiFi
- Full HTML Browser
- aGPS with Google Maps
- Google Latitude
