I totally agree with you bjtheone. You would think that cell phone companies would want their users to have the best that they can offer instead of limiting them.

We don't want more and more Android powered devices… We want SUPPORT for our EXISTING Android powered devices. 1.6 has been available for 2 months and yet we are still being burned. I have been offered the chance to cancel my contract without cancellation fee and if there's no support by the time the Milestone hits Telus, I'm going to take the offer. I doubt i'm the only one.

Agreed, it does not take this long to push out 1.6, not to mention the paid app store. I gave Rogers a chance and now I am getting burned hard. I will be watching the Telus release very closely; if they can actually support the phones we pay big bucks for then I will switch to the Milestone. As for Rogers, it has been a short but definitely not sweet period being a customer. Never again.

What a total load of crap. Your reps don't have a clue about supporting the OS. Updates are incredibly slow and there is still not paid apps in the Market for Canada. If this is “supporting Android” then I really really don't want to see what poor support looks like.

Maybe Telus will actually roll out the paid Market. They at least will have Android 2.0, and the timely update to 2.1.

Just wanted to add that at Rogers, we've been selling Android devices since last spring when we were the first to introduce the platform into the Canadian market (just as we were with Blackberry and iPhone).

Our Android line-up is the largest in Canada and includes the HTC Dream, HTC Magic and new LG Eve. Rogers' has tens of thousands of Android customers who are supported by reps that have been trained on the OS and have had months to get familiar with it.

Stay tuned because in the coming months, we will continue to lead the Canadian market by introducing more and more Android-powered devices

Wasn't there an official announcement that Rogers was going to carry an Android-based Motorola phone soon? If so, by elimination, Rogers will get the Cliq.
