"Jailbreaking" is usually an option, even on an iPhone, but being stuck in that grey zone of support and even legality is not a good place to be. Here's hoping for a real revolution in user freedom... given what a staggering breakthrough the Internet is (equal access to any application and open protocols), wireless data devices should have the same amount of user control as wired access.
