The revolution is coming June 2nd to a Rogers Wireless store near you!
The HTC Dream, Rogers’ first Google Android based smartphone sporting a 3.2 inch screen, Quad-band/HSPA, a slide out keyboard, WiFi, a 3.2 MP camera, and expandable memory, is the first real contender to the well-known Apple iPhone 3G, released last year July on Rogers Wireless.
To raise some hype for the HTC Dream, yesterday (May 19) most Rogers Wireless locations have received new ads and banners for the imminent launch of the the HTC Dream and soon following, the HTC Magic. Both of these new HTC handsets will be running Google’s new mobile operation System “Android” and be exclusive to Rogers Wireless.
The new ads showcase the HTC Dream in both a vertical banner and window banner stating “The Revolution is coming June 2″. What makes these ads fun is that each banner type will have a manual tear-off calendar pad counting down the remaining days until the launch of the HTC Dream on June 2. Today, that would put us ONLY 13 days from the launch of the HTC Dream.
Are you going to pick up the HTC Dream on launch day?
Will you be the first to line up at your local Rogers Wireless store?

I’m very keen on Android, but I’m afraid I won’t be in line on the first day. I want to see what treachery (if any) Rogers has done to the device, how they have limited it, how much of a “revolution” it really is. If it can be rooted so it’s a device I can really control and fully use on their network on a reasonable plan, then it’s a go, otherwise I’ll explore other options or just forget about it for another season.
Yes, it’s always a crap shoot to see how these devices will get “Roger-tized”…I’m happy that we’re finally getting a taste of Android OS in Canada.
I have an unlocked G1 and using it on rogers and it is awesome. What will Rogers do … who knows.
ya well iphone wasn’t cockblocked too much. I think it will be ok.
Exactly. I’m really looking forward to a phone with a free and opensource os. They better have not messed around with the OS. If they do then there is no real difference between iPhone and Android. The less Roger mess with the OS the bigger revelution it will be …
Good points everyone, we’ll find out in 11 days!
I’m not much of a rabble rouser, but I think it would be helpful for the consciousness of what is happening is raised, much like it was raised when discussing the iPhone’s data plan. Consumers can have impact, and this issue is important because it affects how much control you have over a device you trust your information to.. whether there really is any choice or not. “Jailbreaking” is usually an option, even on an iPhone, but being stuck in that grey zone of support and even legality is not a good place to be. Here’s hoping for a real revolution in user freedom… given what a staggering breakthrough the Internet is (equal access to any application and open protocols), wireless data devices should have the same amount of user control as wired access.
