Rogers Releases Motorola Quench

This morning, Rogers officially released the Motorola Quench. The Quench is one of three new social media Android devices released by Motorola, along with the Backflip and Dext from Telus and Bell respectively.

The Motorola Quench is available at $49.99 with a 3-year agreement. The device is also available at $324.99 with a 2-year agreement, $374.99 with a 1-year agreement, and $424.99 with no agreement.

The premiere of a friend-centric smartphone, the Quench comes with the MOTOBLUR™ service which sends updates from Facebook and Twitter to one integrated homescreen. MOTOBLUR™ also auto-synchs your contact list, ensuring you get automatic and instant delivery of updates and messages from all of your contacts.

The Android-based device has launched with Android 1.5, with a possibility of receiving the Android 2.1 update, however the update possibility is an unconfirmed rumor.

The device includes a 3.1-inch touchscreen display with pinch and zoom finger controls, the new SWYPE typing feature, built-in WiFi,  Bluetooth, and GPS, and a 5-megapixel camera with flash, auto-focus, and video.

The Quench also includes a full HTML browser and supports up to 32GB of storage with a microSD card, of which Rogers includes a free 2GB microSD card with the device.

Hooray, another “brand-new” device for Canada running a legacy version of Android. On everybody's favourite carrier too. I really hope the Incredible shows up on Bell/Telus soon.
