Rogers Launches Motorola Flipout, Confirms Samsung S Captivate Coming Soon

Yesterday, Rogers launched their next Android-powered device, the Motorola Flipout. As rumored earlier in the month, the Flipout features Android 2.1, Motorola’s own MOTOBLUR, and a 3-megapixel camera with video.

The Flipout further features a 2.8-inch touchscreen display, integrated WiFi and GPS, and support for up to 32GB of storage with a microSD card.

The device has a unique flip mechanism that reveals a full QWERTY keyboard and is priced to target the back to school market at $29.99 on a 3-year voice agreement. The Flipout is also available without agreement for $374.99.

In other Android news, Rogers has also confirmed that the Samsung S Captivate is coming soon to the Canadian carrier.

The Captivate features Android OS 2.1, a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video, integrated WiFi, 16GB of internal storage, Bluetooth, and support for up to 32GB of additional storage with a microSD card.

No price points or official release date yet, but Rogers will be releasing more information soon.

Finally, Rogers actually confirmed the Galaxy S! Now we just need a set date………………

I don't know. When do you think Rogers is going to allow Froyo on this thing?
Cause without that I guess I'm gonna have to get the iphone 4.

  • Funkytone

Root it! Then you can get rid of the Samsung TouchWiz 3.0 and put Froyo on there once a custom rom comes out. I've got a iPhone 3g and was thinking of the iPhone 4, but this sole app is what made my decision for android: http://lifehacker.com/5599116/how-to-turn-your-…

So you're going to get the Galaxy S over the iPhone 4? You think it's the better phone? I wanna say I'm missing flash on the Sammy but I never take pictures with my phones anyway. I would love to jump on the Android bandwagon, mainly cause I don't want to buy a broken phone (hint: iPhone4-antenna). That application does look incredible. Sorry gotta ask again: Custom Rom with Froyo over iOS4?
    Thank you

I will take Android 2.1 over iOS 4 any day of the week. I switched from Iphone to android less then 2 months ago and now I will never go back. I am only using a Liquid E and I love it way better then my iphone. the ability to customize the interface any way you like can't be beat. If you want Games iphone is still way ahead of android…but that about it.

  • win7heartsiphone-notnanymore

Nope don't care about Games or the lack of flash for the camera nor do I care about a front facing camera. I'd like a phone I can make phone calls with :-D .
Thank you two. You helped me a lot. Looks like I'll be picking one of these bad boys up on launch day. Whenever that may be!
