WOW, it's horrible, in order to make emergency calls, you need to disable GPS.

Lol. I'll have to go read the french doc now.

Off topic a bit - I'm now a pure linux user (laptop, media center, and file server), but my wife's computer still runs XP. It's ironic that you need to use windows to upgrade a linux based phone. I wonder how many Android owners are non-Windows users.

Back on topic, Rogers just mentions that there are 3rd party apps available to backup apps and personal data. I just found out that HTC Sync doesn't really help that much, especially as we don't use Outlook or Outlook Express. Definitely expecting more from that one.

So, anyone know of any good backup apps that cover apps, settings, bookmarks, call logs, sms messages, etc... Protected apps would be nice too, but only as I haven't looked to see if there's data associated with any of them. I'm assuming my contacts and calendar entries will come back from my google account, although everyone might not keep it sync. Googling usually points me to ones that must paid apps, and guessing there must be someone in these forums that has backed up their phone before.

Thanks in advance!

Yup, got that too. If you have Linux or Mac don't bother downloading the huge 65MB file, it's only a zipped Windows-only .exe file.

And I'd have to WIPE my phone ? Duh! I am fascinated at the horrid we're-too-cheap-to-spell-check French document too.

Thank you Rogers!

Just received one on my magic too. I've just downloaded the new ROM, but haven't installed it yet as the update will wipe the phone. As I haven't tried restoring back to my Magic before, I'm waiting for a few success stories first :-) I'm sure it will work fine - it's just that I haven't tried it yet.

If you do go to small claims, let me know, if we organize it will be more effective.

The only thing I'm asking for is a quicker opportunity to upgrade. I'll happily wait till mid summer, pay $200 and extend my contract three years if I can upgrade to something that isn't as flawed.
