Point Inside Shopping Navigation App Now On Android!

Point Inside, a very popular and successful application that made its debut on the iPhone platform, is now available for Android!

Point Inside is an application that displays shopping mall maps on your Android device. The app includes an extensive 100,000+ stores, kiosks and other mall related amenities. While the app does not include every mall in North America, it does have support for all the major malls across the USA and Canada.

Malls that have levels are detailed within the app, as well as the stores and mall amenities available on a specific level. The mall maps are also high-res and interactive, allowing users to tap on any store name and see more information.

Since some shopping malls have hundreds of stores, the app also includes a very helpful search feature where users may search by name or description. Each shopping mall may also be searched with more detail by events, promotions, and services, or navigated by the mall overview map. There is also a standard index available.

Other great app features include offline functionality, integration with Google Maps to locate the nearest mall to a users location, and the ability to record the location of the user’s parked car.

Each store labeled in the app includes a store description, store hours, a website link (if available), and a phone number.

Point Inside is now available on the Android Market as a free app for Android 1.6 and higher devices.

Oh, this is awesome news! My sister has the iPhone app and she used it when we went Christmas shopping last month. We were both super impressed — we saved some money with some store promos we found on the app and we liked how we could even locate our car in the mall parking lot. I'm definitely going to download this to my new mytouch phone!!

If you want to skip the mall entirely you might like our site, http://www.SeeSpend.com. It creates a shopping mall based on your search. You can search for products like shoes ( http://www.seespend.com?fs=shoes ) or a laptop ( http://www.seespend.com?fs=laptop ), for brands like Nike ( http://www.seespend.com?fs=nike ), or just check out the sales and outlet stores ( http://www.seespend.com?req_sale=1 ). You can even rank the stores so your favorites show up first, even when you didn't realize they sold what you were looking for. We have some of the top Canadian stores and are adding more all the time.

Why bother posting this story? Until Rogers gets the Sony Ericsson X10, or until HTC updates the Magic to 2.1, there are NO Android phones in Canada that can use this app since it requires 1.6.

We are all still stuck on Android 1.5. This app will only work for those who have rooted their phones to run 1.6.

Telus Hero, and all unlocked phone's owners and all rooted phone's owners. As for myself I've got the Motorola Milestone unlocked, a brand new Rogers Magic (that should be upgraded to 2.1) and my old Dream that is rooted. So as you can see it is, or might be useful to a lot of users, even if personnally I don't realy care about this particular one.

    So thanks Android in Canada
