Motorola Atrix coming to Bell on March 17

It is official. The Motorola Atrix has got a confirmed March 17 release date. $169.95 on a three year term with a minimum $50 voice/data plan or for $599.95 with no term.

To promote the Atrix, Bell is also giving everyone a chance to win one of five prize packs worth approximately $1230. These prize packs include the smartphone itself alongside the laptop dock (Lapdock) and HD multimedia dock.

Considering this is possibly the most powerful smartphone on the market right now, it makes the Nexus S (which we’re also expecting to arrive in Canada this month) a tough sell. Especially considering the Atrix has a dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and a 4″ 960 x 540 qHD display. Though, where else can you get a factory unlocked phone that ships with Android 2.3 Gingerbread but the Nexus S right? Tough call, what are your thoughts?

Will it work with Wind/Mobilicity? For cheaper data.

It will ship locked to Bell. If you manage to get it unlocked, you’d only be able to use Edge (2G) on Wind/Mobilicity for data, not 3G/4G.

The choice between the Nexus S and the Atrix really is a difficult one…. raw power vs. stock android and oem unlock…..why do they do this?!? I wish there was an official way to put stock android on any android phone. I currently use CyanogenMod but my phone is factory unlocked so there are no bricking issues.

I’m going for the Nexus S. I think I can do without the hardware specs of the Atrix, and I really want to try stock android. I’ll still enter the draw, of course.

I was also thinking that I could do without a dual core. I think I will wait and play around with the Atrix in store to see if I could live with Motoblur.

Who cares, Moto sucks. Go with the Nexus S, at least it comes with 2.3. If Moto keeps up with their reputation, it will be a year or never before the Atrix is updated.

I’d rather wait for iPhone 5. Don’t see the point in buying Android when so many apps – especially those not developed by popular companies ( for instance) – are available in iPhone only.

Stock Android (pure Google) > Better Hardware.
The 4″ Nexus S is no slouch and will still be awesome fast.
Plus you KNOW it’ll receive future Android updates promptly – and never have to question when or IF it’ll ever seen them (much like my current Moto Milestone! MotoBastards!)

I would never buy an other motorolla product after buying a supposedly flash ready milestone and still one year later waiting for the android 2.2 update that will include the flash that was promised.

No more locked bootloaders for me.
