Here’s some fantastic news for HTC Legend/Desire owners!
If you purchased the HTC Legend from Bell or Virgin recently or will purchase the upcoming HTC Desire from Telus, all of the devices have the Android 2.2 update coming soon.
The news comes from a HTC representative who stated:
We are working hard with our partners to update the HTC Sense experience on Froyo and distribute it to our customers as fast as possible. We expect to release updates for several of our 2010 models including Desire, Legend and Wildfire beginning in Q3.
So it looks like the HTC Legend/Desire Android 2.2 update will be available, with an updated SenseUI, late Summer or Fall 2010. Hopefully everything goes to plan and there are no barriers from the carriers or “partners” that HTC is working with.

I'm thinking to buy the Legend from Bell, unlock it and use it with Fido. I guess I'll just wait for the update before buying, to make sure I have it on my phone!
I also hope that Bell will not disable the possibility to use the Android phone as a Wifi hotspot.
Cannot wait until the HTC Desire hits Telus.

Where is the Desire on Telus rumour coming from? When it going to hit? I want one but my contract is up at the end of the month and i may switch to Bell/Samsung then if they haven't announced anything.

I don't know how much stock you cqn put in this. The Hero has been promised an update to 2.1 for months and it keeps getting pushed back. Latest word is August, but who knows? The only sure bet for OS upgrades seems to be the N1.
