Google’s New Duo Video Chat App Starts Rolling Out

Google initially revealed Duo, the company’s new Facetime competitor, at Google I/O earlier this year. The company recently announced that the app would go live for everyone around the world in the next few days. At least in the US and for some in Canada, the app is available to download from the Play Store.

The app’s main focus is to bring a simplified, cross platform video chat to anyone, anywhere since it works on both Android and iOS devices. All you need to get started is a phone number and you’ll be ready to use it with friends and family.

The app also contains a feature, exclusive to Android, called Knock Knock. Essentially, if you were to receive a call with Knock Knock, you would be able to view a live video of the other person waiting for you to answer.

Allo is still missing and there’s no word from Google as to when it will be available. If for some reason you can’t download the app, an APK be found here.
