Google’s Chromecast turned out to be a huge hit after its initial launch in the US in July 2013, and now that the device has sold 20 million units. This means it’s finally time for Google to unveil its successor.
The New Chromecast will come in 3 colours; Black, Lemonade (Yellow) and Coral (Bright Red) and will feature the same universal HDMI CEC connector. As for specs, it comes with a redesign WiFi antenna system that allows for higher performance and throughput and as well as offer support for dual band 2.4/5GHz WiFi. It also supports 802.11ac.
Another device Google announced was the Chromecast Audio, a similarly shaped device that instead, plugs into a speaker via a 3.5mm audio jack. This allows the user to cast audio to the respective speaker.
Both Chromecast devices are available to purchase on the Canadian Google Store for $45 each.
