Google Promises to Fix Samsung Nexus S Voice Search Glitch Within a Week
A couple months ago, I posted about the Nexus S and its voice search glitch ( LINK HERE )
Google acknowledged the issue and passed it off as a software glitch, they stated that it will address as soon as they can. Months later people are still suffering from this ‘Voice search glitch’ and wondering where Google is at with this alleged fix.
The issue was left untreated for so long, people were stating to find alterative methods. These methods involved either rooting and/or flashing a custom rom to their phones, which in turn in many cases will void the warranty, just to fix a problem that should have been fixed quite some time ago.
It would appear that Google is finally stepping up and addressing the issue. Paul Wilcox, a community manager at Google, announced yesterday that the most sought after fix for this annoying, irritating bug in the Google Voice Search app for the Google Nexus S will be coming out this week. He made the following statement.
“We plan to release an over-the-air update this week which includes a fix for this bug. I’ll post again once the OTA starts,” Wilcox told Nexus S users on Google’s support page discussing the said bug.”
I personally thought Google would have stepped on this a long time ago. It’s very hard to market a phone with this annoying little glitch, especially from a phone that’s suppose to get updates straight from Google.
Until then, users will have to eagerly wait for their update to finally be pushed through.
What do you make of this. Do you think Google will actually push the update as quickly as they said, or will we be strung along a little longer?
