Google Nexus One To Receive 802.11n WiFi With Android 2.2

And the Android 2.2 news just keeps rolling in!

This week, photos emerged of Android OS including the feature of an automatic application updating toggle. This feature would simply allow apps to be updated on their own instead of having users to update apps individually.

In the latest Android OS 2.2 news, reports indicate that the Google Nexus One may receive a free update to 802.11n WiFi. Apparently Broadcom (makers of the WiFi chip) and Google have released new drivers for the Nexus One WiFi chipset that enables 802.11n WiFi. 802.11n WiFi is increasingly faster with a wider range than 802.11g/b chips.

While the 802.11n update was not release for the Android OS yet, a pair of Android users have managed to successfully get the drivers working on Android OS 2.1 and connect via 802.11n. The Nexus One is capable of using 802.11n, but the functionality had simply not yet been enabled.

Aside from Flash 10.1, a color trackball, and FM radio, 802.11n is another welcomed feature of Android OS 2.2, at least for the Nexus One.
