Google Maps Navigation Now Available In Canada

This week, Google announced the availability of its Google Maps Navigation app (version 4.2) in more countries worldwide, including Canada.

Today we’re launching Google Maps Navigation version 4.2 in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Switzerland for Android devices 1.6 and higher.

Google Maps Navigation is an Internet-connected GPS navigation system that provides turn-by-turn voice directions as a free feature of Google Maps.

The app also includes the Search by voice functionality and Street View.

Android 2.0 owners have additional functionality by being able to switch to French, German, Italian and Spanish languages for the navigation instructions.

Google Maps Navigation is available to all Android 1.6 devices and higher in the Android Market.

    Got the HTC Magic (1.6) and cannot seem to find Google Maps in the Market to update. Also cannot seem to be unable to uninstall it to re-install it. Anyone have the same issue – and perhaps a solution?

    as far as i know you need android 2.0 for turn by turn navigation. this update is due for the htc magic this summer.

    HTC Magic 32A running CyanogenMOD 2.1 and I'm loving navigation! If you miss a turn it will reroute you! It's too bad the first bit of the directions are cut off using Bluetooth, but other than that no issues here.

    *Note: r00ting your phone can cause bricking, and loss of support, both warranty and tech, from your service provider. On the upside, you can use all those cool apps you keep hearing about!
