Fido to Release LG Optimus 2X, Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro, and Samsung Galaxy Q

It’s all coming together. A couple weeks back we posted news of a new “Smartphone Lite” category that Rogers will soon be releasing. Listed on the internal doc were a couple new devices, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro and Samsung Galaxy Q. In addition, we were also tipped that Fido will be releasing the LG Optimus 2X… well, taking a look at the above screenshot shows all these devices will be making their way to Fido in Q3. Two new Android smartphones and one quick messaging device.

We’re still waiting on prices and launch dates, but are hearing the Optimus 2X might possibly be available within a few days. The Optimus 2X runs Android 2.2 and is a bit strange as Rogers will not be carrying it, but both WIND and Videotron launched this a couple months ago. However, specs have it coming with a 4-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor, an 8 megapixel camera that captures 1080p HD videos and has a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera.

As for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro, this runs Android OS 2.3 and has a full 4-row QWERTY slider and packs some power with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. Screen size is 3.7-inch screen (resolution of 480 x 854) and also has an 8-megapixel that can record HD videos. Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Q will be heading to Rogers lineup too, powered by Android OS 2.2 and has a 3.2-inch display and a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Also, for those who want to read into the text at the bottom of the document: “Note: New iPhone will be available for HUP”… does this mean the new iPhone 5 is launching in Q3?

On top of all these phone releases, Fido also is new offering a $10 Dollar 100Mb Data package. so you can have your data, without hurting your wallet if you are on a budget.

Solid devices for Fido.
More soon!

(Thanks Tipster)

If you actually look at the picture, it mentions the “Xperia X10 Mini Pro”, and not the “Xperia Pro”.  These two are very different phones, with the X10 Mini Pro being released a couple years ago, and the Xperia Pro not yet available anywhere.

Sorry, “Xperia Pro Mini”, which is not the same as the Xperia Pro.
