Archos Announces Not One, But FIVE Froyo Tablets

It’s no secret that Android tablets are gonna be the hot thing this holiday season. Archos already has Android tablets out but, they’re just not very good. Now they’re bumping up their game with five newly announced tablets.

They start at a 2.8″ device that aims to be an iPod Touch like media player, All the way up to 10.1″ which is about the same size as the iPad. What I really like is that we’re promised Froyo on every single one when they ship.

Two of these tablets, The Archos 70 (7″) and 101 (10.1″)  have capacitive touch screens which in my opinion is a necessity. The others sport resistive touch screens which I have found to be a nightmare everytime I’ve used, maybe I’m just not used to it but that’s just me.

The price points are also very attractive starting at $99 and going all the way up to $299 for the 10.1″ Archos 101. Considering the iPad costs $550 CAD, that’s quite a reasonable price for a Froyo tablet that includes a Webcam.

To be released from September to mid-October. Engadget got some hands-on time and Archos has all the details you need on their site so be sure to check the source links below.

I know this is a bizarre request… but as long as the 101 has good, loud and crisp speakers… it’s a day one purchase for me.

My laptop’s speakers are horrific, so I can’t even use it for watching vids with my wife in bed, etc. The iPad is great, but for $200 less, I’ll give this a whirl.
