Angry Birds Finally Released For Android (update: Android 1.6+)

I know, I’m a little late on this one. But in case you missed it, Angry Birds for Android came out on Friday. While iPhone users have been enjoying this one for a while now, we finally get a taste too with this beta version. I think Angry Birds defines what a mobile touchscreen game should be like. It’s quick, fun and designed for a touchscreen.

Playing this game on the weekend has been a treat and look for a full review coming your way sometime this week! And I should probably mention that this Lite Beta version is FREE so what have you got to lose?

Update: I hope I didn’t get anyone’s hopes up too high but it seems that the game only works on Android 1.6+. Rovio has also mentioned that they don’t guarantee optimal performance on every Android device during this beta period so don’t be bummed if it’s not running perfectly on your phone just yet. I can’t find it either. I’m running 1.5 though so maybe that’s it?

On 2.1 and Market cannot find it… bummer

I’m hearing they’re having some issues that are being fixed right now. Try checking back later, they haven’t got back to me personally yet on what is wrong.

I’m on my 2.1 Galaxy S and can’t find it on the market. I guess they took it down earlier.

On Galaxy S 2.1 Market and it’s there — scanned the bar code and got it.
