Android Market Passes 50,000 Apps Milestone!

The Android platform has officially passed the 50,000 app milestone! It was only just last week that Google passed the 38,000 app mark. That is a huge jump in mobile applications within just a few weeks.

While the Android Market is still significantly behind the iPhone’s App Store, which is currently serving more than 185,000 applications, the Android Market is catching up and quickly. As the Android customer base quickly increases and developers find the community to be a lucrative platform for development, the number of available apps will continue to rise.

The Android Market is currently serving approximately 8,800 new applications per month and may very well exceed 100,000 applications this September 2010.
