Android Market Makes Its Way To Mac With doubleTwist

Android users on the Mac platform can rejoice today! An application called doubleTwist, essentially a media manager for devices such as PSP, Blackberry, and Palm Pre, received an update that added to its syncing functionality for non-Apple devices such as Android.

DoubleTwist now enables users to download Android apps directly from the Android Market from their Mac desktop. This is very similar to what iTunes provides today for both Mac and PC platforms except that iTunes is for Apple’s iDevices.

When browsing the Android Market on doubleTwist, Android users need only take a photo of the barcode of an app and that app will be downloaded to your Android device. To add to the functionality, doubleTwist has indicated that an over-the-air (OTA) buying function is in the works.

Android owners will be familiar with Google’s currently available web version of the Android Market, however the web version does not allow downloads or purchases and simply acts as a tool for users to browse apps. Well, not only can you browse apps with doubleTwist, but you can download and buy them too.

And Windows users, don’t worry, doubleTwist has you covered in an upcoming update.
