Meet The Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 And 8.0

Galaxy Tab S2

As predicted by various sources and leaks, Samsung has announced not one but two new flagship tablets, the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 and 8.0.  Although the devices are technically sequels to last years Tab S 10.5 and 8.4, both the 9.7 and 8.0 take on the increasingly popular 4:3 screen ratio.  Here are the rest of the specs:

Tab S2 9.7

  • 9.7″ Super AMOLED Display (2048×1536)
  • Octa-Core Processor (Quad 1.9GHz + Quad 1.3GHz)
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB/64GB Internal Storage
  • microSD Card Slot
  • 8MP Camera
  • 2.1MP Camera
  • 5870 mAh Battery
  • Android 5.0

Tab S2 8.0

  • 8.0″ Super AMOLED Display (2048×1536)
  • Octa-Core Processor (Quad 1.9GHz + Quad 1.3GHz)
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB/64GB Internal Storage
  • microSD Card Slot
  • 8MP Camera
  • 2.1MP Camera
  • 4000 mAh Battery
  • Android 5.0

Both devices also come in at an incredible 5.6mm thin and 389g (9.7)/265g (8.0) making them Samsung’s “thinnest and lightest tablet[s] of its size ever.”  Both will be available in WiFi-only or LTE configurations at launch.  Speaking of launch, Samsung will begin their global roll out in August.  Unfortunately we don’t have a clear cut date yet nor do we have any pricing but given the premium tag of the original Tab S, I’d imagine these will be in the $400+ range.

What do you guys think of Samsung’s new flagship tablets?
