Asus Announces Their Budget Tab

ASUS MeMo Pad makes quiet postCES debut, offers Jelly Bean and 16GB of storage for $150

Asus has finally officially announced their budget tablet that’s been floating around the web for weeks.  The name for this little guy is the Asus Memo Pad and here’s the full spec breakdown on the device:

  • 7″ 1024 x 600 Resolution Display
  • 1GHz WM8950 Processor
  • Mali-400 GPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB Internal Storage
  • Micro-SD Card Slot
  • 1MP Front Facing Camera
  • 4270 mAh Battery (Supposed to offer 7 hours of battery life)
  • Android 4.1

While it may not measure up to the Nexus 7, it comes with a much lower price tag than it’s sibling.  While the Nexus 7 runs around $260-$310, the Asus Memo Pad is going to have just a $150 price tag attached to it.  So while the specs aren’t top notch, the price tag is and that’s what’s going to help this guy sell.

According to the press release, the device will become available as early as this month in “select markets.”  There’s no word on what those “select markets” are but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear anything.  If you want a bit more info, check out the full press release below.
