Acer continues to churn out the Android tablets. The latest is another bite sized budget tablet. the Acer A1-810. And while you may be wondering why they’re already releasing another in the mini sized department, this particular tablet has one minor variation to put it in direct competition with a certain fruity mini tablet. Acer’s latest tablet will feature a 7.9″ IPS dispaly with a 1024×768 resolution, the exact same screen size and resolution of the the Apple iPad Mini. Here’s the rest of the specs:
- 1.2 GHz Quad-Core MediaTek Processor
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB Internal Storage
- 5MP Camera
- VGA Front-Facing Camera
- 3250 mAh Battery
- Android 4.2 Pre-Installed
In terms of pricing and availability, it’s currently listed at €199 (which means if it launched here is should come between $200-$250) and should be available sometime in June.
While it looks like it should be a pretty decent budget tablet, I’m not a fan of the 7.9″ 1024×768 resolution display for Android as most apps are not optimized for that screen size. Also, that’s a relatively poor resolution screen by today’s standard and may be a misstep if they’re looking to compete with the Mini as a higher resolution version is expected to come this year.
What do you guys think of this tablet? What do you think of this screen size on an Android tablet? Acer trying to hard?
