The OnePlus 2 is coming soon and OnePlus has officially outed their processor of choice and the next generation flagship killer will be powered by none other than the Snapdragon 810. While all rumours had already been pointing in this direction its always nice to get official confirmation.
Now the Snapdragon 810 has come under fire (no pun intended) for severe overheating issues on other devices but OnePlus is insisting that this is not an issue on their device. According to them, they have partnered closely with Qualcomm to ensure that the new and improved version of the chipset (v2.1) will run “cooler than ever.”
In terms of the software, OnePlus will be using their home brewed OxygenOS which has been optimized to “work beautifully with the Snapdragon 810.” I gave their OxygenOS a go on my One and I was quite pleased with the results so I look forward to seeing how the OS runs on their next gen device.
While we still don’t have an official launch date, OnePlus did state that they will continue revealing more of the 2’s innards piece by piece so we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop as they make that information available.
