The “M” in Android M is a mystery no longer. Google announced earlier today that the next iteration of Android will indeed be named Android Marshmallow!
In addition to the unveiling of Android M’s name and accompanying statue, Google also released the Android 6.0 SDK today as well as the final Developer Preview. So if you’re not opposed to tinkering a little bit with your Nexus you can definitely give the new preview a try.
While Android 6.0 Marshmallow won’t look a whole lot different than Lollipop, there are a bunch of awesome new features to look forward to including native fingerprint security, doze and my personal favourite, app date backup and restore. While I’m definitely super excited for Android Marshmallow to officially begin its roll out in the coming months, it also means that our patience will once again be tested as we wait for manufacturers to tinker with the new software and roll it out to their respective devices.
