Android 6.0 Marshmallow is just around the corner which means that that tech blogs everywhere will soon be filled up with one main question: “when is my device getting Marshmallow?” While it will likely be a while before any devices not starting with name “Nexus” or “Moto” get the update, Samsung users may not have to wait too too long. According to a new report from SamMobile Samsung is working on “a major update” for their 2015 flagships which includes the S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+ and Note 5.
While they couldn’t confirm that this is indeed the Marshmallow update that Samsung is working on, they did state that the evidence seems to point in that direction. The S6 Edge in particular is said to move from firmware version G925FXXU2COH2 to G925FXXU3COI6 and that the move from “U2” to “U3” is an indication of more user-facing changes.
Their source also indicated that the Note 4 would indeed get Marshmallow (I’m sure there would be an outcry if it didn’t) but there’s no word on whether or not that device would get updated at the same time as the 2015 flagships. My guess is no but I’d be happy to be proved wrong.
Hopefully these little rumours are true and Samsung shocks us all with a speedy update to Marshmallow!
