Intel has been working hard at trying to make their way into a very crowded mobile SoC market. So far they have been relatively unsuccessful at breaking through but that’s not stopping them from pushing forward as they have now introduced their first dual-core mobile chips.
The new line of SoCs were introduced as the Clover-Trail+ and will come in 2.0GHz, 1.6GHz, and 1.2GHz variants. They will support up to 16MP Cameras and can support burst mode on a camera to take shots at up to 15 frames per second. These chips will also support displays up to 1900×1200 which means that they will easily slip into all these new high-res screen devices that are popping up.
As I already said, Intel isn’t being very widely utilized right now for their chips but they do have a handful of partners lined up already as Asus, Lenovo, and ZTE should all have some Intel powered devices launching this year. I’ve still yet to actually try out an Intel powered device so I can’t really give my thoughts on how well or poorly they may perform but I’m always open to new things and if any do end up launching here in Canada I’m sure we’ll have the chance to check them out.
