The N1 should also work on DAVE and quebecor, as they also own parts of the AWS spectrum. I am personally looking forward to DAVE's launch, as they are purported to have a greater coverage than WIND.

Check the specs for this phone on GSM Arena: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_google_nexus_one-30...

In particular, note this:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 1700 / 2100 / 900

Rogers runs 2G (EDGE) and 3G (HSPA) on 850/1900. So the Nexus will operate at 2G speeds on Rogers.
Telus, Bell operate HSPA only (with no GSM fallback) at 850/1900, so the Nexus will not operate at all on their networks.
WIND Mobile operates on the same frequency as T-Mobile, i.e. AWS or 1700 MHz, so the Nexus WILL operate in 3G on that network, which is fine so long as you stay within WIND's tiny coverage areas.

So what does the phone lack that it cant work with 3G speeds.. What am I looking for in the specs?

I think you’re only partially correct: the legacy Telus and Bell networks are still CDMA — the new network is HSPA only — so the GSM/EDGE support on the Nexus One will do no good on those carriers. You’ll only be able to get EDGE on Rogers.

Someone really needs to press Google on whether they have any plans for Nexus One in Canada. An HSPA version for the 850/1900 bands would work on all three major carriers’ 3G networks.
