The Nexus 4 remains one of the hardest to find phones on the planet right now. However, it’s slowing trickling out to some lucky customers and some of those lucky customers have been met with an additional surprise when powering on their phone.
Apparently, an 8GB Nexus 4 that made its way to Malaysia came pre-loaded with Android 4.2.2. Now, to my knowledge, Google has not announced anything about Android 4.2.2 yet which is what makes this so odd. And to add to the mystery, several Brazilian customers have also come forward claiming that their devices are also running Android 4.2.2.
There aren’t any details as to any possible changes that have been found in Android 4.2.2. The only thing that has been noticed is that there are some developer keys at the end of the build numbers. So it could be that these were test units or developer units that weren’t actually meant to be shipped out.
Regardless how these devices made it out there, it does at least tell us that Android 4.2.2 is on the way. My guess is that there aren’t any major changes, probably just minor tweaks and bug fixes but you never know.
