Panoramio Coming Soon To Android

by Billy on October 21st, 2009

Here is a cool app idea.

Panoramio is an application/community who share their photos online. User uploaded photos are surfaced in Google Earth and Google Maps as photo layers, so almost anyone with Internet access can see them.

While the whole idea behind Panoramio is web-based, the application that is available makes it very simple to upload photos directly to the online community from your device.

Panoramio aims to keep photo uploading very simple by delivering a process of signing in only one time, picking a photo from your device or taking a new photo, and then uploading it straight to Panoramio. Based on availability, the photo will also have the geoposition tagged and users may add a title to the photo.

The developers just launched the app on the iTunes App Store for the iPhone but more importantly, the developers had this to say about Android:

“Our team is working hard on an app for Android-powered devices, so stay tuned for that!

That’s awesome!

Panoramio and the supplement application definitely sound like something that will be a lot of fun, so keep an eye out for it on the Android Market.
