Maps Updates [loses Places widget]

Just the other day Maps updated to 5.10.1.  I’m all for updates on great apps.  Especially Google ones.  And this update brings some bug fixes and transit navigation accuracy [if you have transit available in your area].

However, what it doesn’t say in that notice is that it removed the Places widget.  Places is still available, but the widget it had is now gone.

Recently I had shown you some of my home screens and one had the places widget.  It was great to quickly review / check-in for G+.

Now I can’t do that.  If I want to check in I have to go to G+, and post a blank status.  Or, I have to go through maps and do it.

If I want to rate a place, I would have to go through Maps or Places to do so.  So many more steps rather than a simple widget.

Google, please return the widget, or make a shortcut for rate/check-in.
