Wireless charging isn’t new, but 2013 looks to be the year that the feature really breaks into the mainstream. Google today released its Nexus 4 wireless charging orb on the Play store, and we’ve detailed the rumours relating to Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S IV and the fact that it sounds like wireless charging is going to be one of the device’s main selling points.
Well, today, Samsung added fuel to the fire by having its Qi wireless charging dock filed over at the FCC. The filing contained several photos of the device, but there is no mention specifically as to whether this is made for the Galaxy S IV, or if the upcoming device can be used with the S III or Note 2.
In addition to several photos, also included in the filing was an instruction sheet detailing how the device should be used. For those that are wondering, the instructions explain how to plug in the charger, where to place the phone, as well as the meaning of the LED indicators.
Although FCC filings are often a sure-thing indicator that the device in question is coming to the retail market soon, we have not heard anything from Samsung directly concerning the Qi wireless charger. As always, we’ll let you know when any further details surface.
