Rogers Reverts Back To Old Hardware Upgrade Policy

On September 18, we reported that Rogers may be reverting back to its previous hardware upgrade policy beginning October 2009.

Effective October 1 2009, Rogers will be reverting its current Hardware Upgrade Policy back to what it was before the changes on August 21 2009.

At the beginning of August 2009, Rogers dropped the price of the HTC Dream/Magic to $79.99 on a 3-year term. That price was for new customers/activations and pricing for existing customers varied from $74.99 to $249.99. This offer originally was set to expire on September 30 2009.

Rogers customers pay a monthly System Access Fee of $6.95 and another fee called the “911 emergency access fee”. I will list the fee for the various provinces below:

BC/AB/MB/ON/NF: $0.50/month
SK: $0.88/month
PEI: $1.00/month
NS: $0.93/month
NB: $1.03/month

Android 1.6 SDK Released!

Earlier today, Google released Android 1.6 SDK to the developer community. The release comes with a series of updated tools and new API’s for developers to play with.

Rogers Launches 21Mbps HSPA+ Network!

At the end of July 2009, we reported that Rogers Wireless will be launching a large 21Mbps HSPA+ network upgrade. Beginning September 14 2009, that network upgrade is now live in the following Canadian cities:

Vancouver
Calgary
Toronto
Ottawa
Montreal

Throughout the 2010 year, Rogers has plans to expand the new network upgrade to additional Canadian cities.
